# AI sales call assistant that doesn't record the call

> No recording can mean three things: no bot in the meeting, no audio stored, and no transcript stored. Most live sales assistants keep the first two promises and still keep a text transcript. Axelize reads Google Meet's captions, records no audio or video, and stores the text on servers in Helsinki until you delete the meeting.

No bot, no audio and no transcript are three different promises. What seven live assistants store, read from their own privacy pages on 14 Oct 2026.

"Doesn't record the call" is doing a lot of work on every product page, and ngl most of it is vibes.
There are three separate promises hiding in it. A bot in the meeting is one. Audio stored on a
server is another. A text transcript sitting in a database is a third. A tool can keep the first two
and still break the third, and your buyer's security team will ask about all three.

We make Axelize, so it is in the table. Every row comes from the vendor's own page, read on
14 October 2026, and where a page says nothing the cell says so.

## What seven live assistants say they store

| Tool | Bot joins? | Audio | Transcript text |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [CallCopilot](https://www.callcopilot.io/security) | No | Streamed for transcription, then discarded | Stays on your Mac, in an encrypted local database |
| [SalesGhost](https://www.salesghost.app/security) | No | Streamed for transcription, "never stored by SalesGhost" | Kept 90 days by default in new workspaces. You can delete per call |
| [NextSay](https://nextsay.ai/privacy) | No | "Audio recording files may be stored locally", and in cloud storage if Cloud Sync is on | Synced to your account with Cloud Sync. Retained "as long as reasonably necessary" |
| [Zaasmi](https://zaasmi.com/) | No | Transcribed on your device | "We store no audio, transcripts, or summaries" |
| [ConversationPilot](https://conversationpilot.ai/trust) | No | Short clips go to its server and OpenAI's speech-to-text, then are discarded | Saved to your account for as long as the account lives. Delete per call |
| [Convo](https://www.itsconvo.com/ai-sales-assistant) | No | Captured locally. One page never says whether media is stored, another says "Every call is recorded and transcribed" | Not stated |
| Axelize | No | Never touched. It reads Google Meet's captions | Text with speaker names on servers in Helsinki. Delete the meeting and it goes. No default retention period yet |

Dates: NextSay's privacy page says it was updated on 10 September 2026 and ConversationPilot's trust
page on 14 September 2026. The others carry no date.

Convo deserves a footnote. Its [assistant page](https://www.itsconvo.com/ai-sales-assistant) says it
captures the call locally and never says whether call media is stored. Its
[sales page](https://www.itsconvo.com/sales) says "Every call is recorded and transcribed". Both
pages are Convo's, and they may describe different plans, so ask which one applies to yours.

## Three ways to hear a call, and what each one costs you

**A bot joins**

A bot is a participant. It shows in the list, it records audio and video, and it is the thing buyers
complain about. Gong and most notetakers work this way. All seven tools above say they avoid it, which
is why "no bot" is a weak way to tell them apart.

**Your computer's audio**

A desktop app listens to whatever your computer plays, transcribes it and discards the audio, or
transcribes on the device. It works on any call app, but it needs an install on macOS or Windows,
so IT may have to approve it, and some of these apps are Mac only. CallCopilot, SalesGhost,
NextSay, Zaasmi, ConversationPilot and Convo work this way.

**The captions**

A browser extension reads the captions your meeting app already shows. It touches no audio or video
at all, but it only works where the captions exist, they have to be switched on, and the transcript
quality is whatever Google's captions give you. Axelize works this way, with Google Meet. Zoom and
Microsoft Teams are on the roadmap.

## "No recording" still sends data somewhere

This is the part the product pages skip. To write a suggestion, every one of these tools has to send
text, or short audio clips, to an AI model.

- CallCopilot says it streams audio to a transcription provider and sends short transcript excerpts to
  AI providers it names.
- ConversationPilot sends short clips to OpenAI's speech-to-text and transcript text to Anthropic.
- Zaasmi says it transcribes on your device and sends only text to the AI, then discards it.
- Axelize sends the caption text to Google's Gemini models through a paid API plan. Our
[security page](/security) says Google does not train on that data under the plan, and Axelize
never trains on your content. That commitment is in the [terms](/terms).

So "no recording" is a claim about audio files. It is not a claim about data staying on your laptop,
and the vendors that say it is should be asked to prove it.

> **Heads up.** A stored transcript is still a record. In some places the law treats transcribing a conversation
> like recording it, and several US states require everyone on the call to know. You are on the call,
> so telling people is your job. Say it at the start, or send the [participant notice](/participants)
> in the invite. This is not legal advice.

## Which one fits your worry

- **A bot in the room looks weird to buyers:** any of the seven. Pick on something else.
- **Your buyer's security team hates recordings:** choose a tool with no audio stored, and read its
security page, because "no recording" on the home page is not a policy.
- **No transcript may exist anywhere:** Zaasmi says it stores none. CallCopilot keeps the text on your
own Mac. The rest keep it on their servers.
- **No data may leave your machine:** none of these does that completely, because the model that
  writes the suggestion runs elsewhere.

Where Axelize fits, plainly. It records no audio and no video, and it never touches either. It
does keep the caption text, on servers in Helsinki, until you delete the meeting, and the default
retention period is not live yet. It does not hold a SOC 2 report. If your buyer's lawyer says no
transcript can exist, we are the wrong tool and you should pick one that stores nothing or keeps it
on the device.

If a text transcript on your account is fine, and you sell on Google Meet, then [Axelize](https://app.axelize.com/signup) gives you
the part the others do not: it writes the sentence for you, in your voice, while the buyer is still
talking. It is free to try, with no card needed. If your plan is to keep winging live calls
with nothing beside you, that is the expensive option, and the trial costs nothing.

**Try it on one real call and read the transcript it keeps** Axelize reads Google Meet's captions and stores text only. See exactly what it keeps, then delete it. [Start free](https://app.axelize.com/signup)

**Five questions to ask any vendor in writing**

- [ ] Is audio or video stored anywhere, even briefly, and by whom?
- [ ] Is a transcript stored, where, and what is the default retention?
- [ ] Which AI and transcription providers receive my buyer's words?
- [ ] Is anything used to train a model, on any plan?
- [ ] Can I delete one call, and can I delete everything?

## FAQ

### Can an AI sales assistant work without recording the call?

Yes. Some listen to your computer's audio and discard it, some read captions, and none needs a bot in the meeting. What differs is what they keep afterwards. Most keep a text transcript, so ask where it lives and how long.

### Does no recording mean no data leaves my computer?

Almost never. To write a suggestion, the assistant has to send text, or short audio clips, to an AI model. Zaasmi says it transcribes on your device and sends only text. Others stream audio to a transcription provider and discard it. Read the processor list on the vendor's privacy page.

### Does Axelize store a transcript?

Yes. It stores the caption text with the speaker names Google Meet shows, on servers in Helsinki, attached to the meeting. Deleting the meeting deletes the transcript. A default retention period is being built and is not live yet. It records no audio or video.

### Do I still need to tell the other person?

In some places, yes, because a stored transcript can count as a record. Tell participants at the start of the call. Axelize publishes a participant notice you can share. This is not legal advice, so check the rules where you and the buyer are.
